Immunity and infertility

This complex issue in human beings has been the source of a number of empirical “treatments” offered by Fertility Specialists e.g. “Bondi Protocol”.

A great deal of interest in the role of Immunology has been related to Recurrent Pregnancy Loss (RPL).

RPL has been linked to infertility by some fertility specialists, despite any scientific proof of this possible association.

Both subjects have been reviewed ^1&2 and except in very limited and special circumstances the current advice given, is to avoid “empirical” treatment:

1. Wait for a better understanding of the physiology and testing methods
2. Wait for evidence based confirmation of any form of treatment
3. Be very cautious about using treatment without evidence of success!
