Does the recipient of a donated egg have any effect on the child she is carrying? 2019

This is a very commonly asked question and today is dealt with under the heading of Epigenetics. Nature versus Nurture or Genetics versus Environment. A simple answer is that while the child's genetics are provided by the egg and sperm, the uterine environment (in our case the recipient who carries the pregnancy) can effect how the genetic messages are switched on or off. So YES the recipient can to some extent effect the child she is carrying and hence we recommend that her nutrition, health and exercise of the recipient are optimal.
